Telemark for Alpine Skiers

February 22, 23, & 24, 2008.

Alpine skiers looking to add Telemark skiing to their skill quiver bring a unique perspective to the task. This intensive course will show you how to take advantage of what you already know and thus accelerate your transition from fixed to free heels. By exploiting the movements you already own, you’ll find it a smooth shift into those you don’t (the Telemark movement itself). We will ski as much diverse terrain as possible, all with an eye towards building and then solidifying your Tele skiing in all conditions. Video will, as always, play a big role in showing you both what your skills are and what you need to address to get where you want to be in a short amount of time.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 22, 23, and 24, 2008, at Crystal. All days from 9 am to 4 pm with a 1 hour lunch.

Crystal All-Terrain Tele Tune Up Series

Dec 15th,Jan 20th, Feb 10th

A three clinic program, the Tele Tune Up sessions can be taken as a package or a la carte. Either way, the idea is simple: one day clinics to sharpen your technique so you can push your own limits. Each session has a specific focus: the first, on December 15, is all about getting a jump on the season. The second, on January 20th, is geared towards capitalizing on your mid-season mileage to accelerate your skills. The final session, on February 10th, is designed to push your skills into new realms by employing a unique free heel tool: alpine skis!

In all, we’ll use video and lots of skiing to ensure you get what you came for!

Session 1 – Smart Start

Start your season off right by exploring the fundamental movements of “good” skiing. Not simply a “back to basics” clinic, this all day event will take you all over the mountain, in all available conditions so you can start to find the key strategies and tactics to make the rest of your season work like a well-oiled machine.

Saturday, December 15, 2007, at Crystal. From 9 am to 4 pm with a 1 hour lunch.

9:00 to 4:00 with a one hour lunch break

Session 2 – Maximizing Mileage

You’ve skied hard for a couple of months, and want to capitalize on and tune up what you’ve got…and then go beyond. This session is all about doing just that, by exploring a myriad of different terrain and conditions, and finding the crucial pieces in your skiing puzzle: Those that are holding you back and that you want to abandon, and those that let you move the way you want and that you want to own!

Sunday, January 20, 2008, at Crystal. From 9 am to 4 pm with a 1 hour lunch.

Session 3 – the Alpine Experience: Alpine Skiing for Tele Skiers

Want to really take your skiing up to the next level, to be the free heel skier you’ve always wanted to be? The answer: some good old fashioned alpine skiing! Locking your heels down can provide a couple of the Big Secrets to great Tele skiing, like maximizing turn shape, getting the most from the skis themselves, and, most importantly, finding – and staying in – the optimal balance zone. PLEASE NOTE: ALPINE EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS SESSION!

Saturday, February 10, 2008, at Crystal. From 9 am to 4 pm with a 1 hour lunch.
