Skate to ski fitness and balance
courses.
September/October/November 07
Improve your skiing with Snowperformance and
Skate Journeys skate
school.
Learn how to skate better as it applies to your ski
performance. Join Trish Alexander for a specific class
designed to improve your balance on skates and skis and to
set you up for success when Snow Performance offers
their Harb
Carver clinic in November. The partnership
between Skate Journeys and Snowperformance was bundled in
order to set you up for success when the slopes open. Snow
Performance has offered the Harb Carver program for many
years with great success, but felt that if their
participants had better skating skills, the Harb Carver
clinic would be more beneficial. So for skiers of all
levels, this course can take you up to the next level.
Snow performance will begin their Harb Carver classes on
November 3rd, 4th. Taking the skate classes in Sept and
October will insure that your Harb Carver clinic time is
fully utilized with your new found balance, agility and
skills--all of which apply directly to skiing.
Here is what to expect: Classes will be 90 minutes in
length. Each class will include 45 minutes of continuous
skating known as Roller Fitness. The moves in Roller Fitness
will both increase your fitness level and improve your
balance. Skate Journeys students commonly comment that a
month of two of Roller Fitness prior to their season has
afforded them a terrific day on the slopes from their first
day to their last. Improved cardiovascular performance,
improved skiing through better balance and agility and it
gave them the opportunity to ski all-out, each day. The
second half of the class will take you through skills and
drills which are similar to skiing. I'll help you find your
balance points, help you improve your skiing posture
and give you the tools to find the efficiency of skiing
which makes it so effortless and well, breathtaking when
it's done right.
Skating and skiing are a symbiotic
sport. When in-line skating was developed, it became obvious
that with down hills it could mimic skiing even more. Our
locations for the classes is in Seattle at Jack Block Park
on Alki. It offers a 15 acres of cement with a variety
of slopes and flats. It is adjacent to the 4 mile Alki trail
which we will also used for cardiovascular training.
JACKBLOCK
Classes will be held on Wednesdays at 6pm - 7:30pm and
Saturday afternoons from 2-3:30pm. *
Cost per 90 minute class:
$25
per class to pay as you go.
$90
for four classes with purchase of a Four-Pack
*Classes
do not need to be taken consecutively and can be taken any
time in Sept or Oct.
