Balance,
Sean Bold
The key foundation
to Alpine skiing is balance. It doesn’t matter if you are an expert or
beginner, if you’re not in balance skiing can be difficult and even
dangerous. Check your balance between the turns, with both skis flat
on the snow. If your hips are over your feet and nose in front of
you’re toes, you are in balance. Be sure your ankle joint/ski boot has
appropriate forward flexion to maintain alignment, stacking of the
femur (big leg bone) and torso (your upper body). If you are stacked
and balanced between turns, skiing is easier and safer.
