Alpine Skiing Tips
Here are articles and tips, which have been put together
by our coaches. They represent what we believe is the
cutting edge of modern snow sports teaching. Our coaches
are here to help you find the right equipment, assist
your learning and hopefully get you thinking.
All our coaches are highly open to change, and knowing
that some of our concepts may challenge your base beliefs
, we are similarly open to input from you.
The key foundation to Alpine skiing is balance. It doesn’t
matter if you are an expert or beginner, if you’re
not in balance skiing can be difficult and even dangerous.
Check your balance between the turns, with both skis flat
on the snow. If your hips are over your feet and nose
in front of you’re toes, you are in balance. Be
sure your ankle joint/ski boot has appropriate forward
flexion to maintain alignment, stacking of the femur (big
leg bone) and torso (your upper body). If you are stacked
and balanced between turns, skiing is easier and safer.
